Cookie policy
Cookies are small text records placed in a browser when a website requests them. Loreus uses a limited set to remember a reader’s choice and, where enabled, understand broad use of the publication. We do not use cookies to build a sensitive personal profile. This page explains names, purposes, and lifespans in plain language. The exact cookie inventory can vary when the hosting configuration or a carefully reviewed measurement service changes. A browser may also store similar records under a local storage mechanism, which can be cleared through the same site-data controls. Cookie settings are separate from email preferences and do not subscribe a reader to correspondence. Where a third-party service is used, Loreus reviews whether its settings are consistent with the limited purposes described here before enabling it.
1. Essential session records
A hosting session cookie may support routing, security, or delivery. It normally expires when the browser closes and does not identify a reader by name. The website can often operate without a long-lived account cookie. Blocking all cookies may change how some infrastructure behaves.
2. Preference cookie
The Loreus cookieChoice record stores Accept or Reject after the reader selects a button. It lasts for up to 12 months and exists so the banner does not return on every visit. It contains no message content or contact details. Removing browser storage removes the saved preference.
3. Analytics
Where basic analytics are enabled, the service may record page path, approximate region, device category, referral source, and a timestamp. Analytics cookies may last up to 13 months and are configured to reduce direct identification. We review broad patterns rather than attempting to identify a particular reader. Optional analytics are not required to browse.
4. Control choices
You can select Accept or Reject in the banner, delete existing cookies, block future cookies, or use private browsing. Browser settings differ, so consult the help menu for your device. Rejecting optional cookies does not remove access to articles. A preference may need to be selected again after clearing storage.
5. Third parties
Hosting, security, analytics, or embedded content providers may set technical records under their own policies. Loreus does not control a third party’s independent cookie practices. We avoid unnecessary embedded services and review external tools before use. Links to their policies are provided where reasonably available.
6. Personal information
A cookieChoice value is not a name or email address. Contact form details are handled separately as correspondence and are not added to an advertising list. We do not sell cookie records or combine them with sensitive categories. See privacy.php for access and deletion requests.
7. Lifespans
Session records expire at browser close, preference records at 12 months, and optional analytics records at no more than 13 months unless a provider’s technical deletion occurs sooner. Security logs are generally kept for 90 days. These periods may change if a legal or security requirement requires preservation. The policy date identifies the current description.
8. International processing
Infrastructure can operate across Indonesia and other countries. Providers are expected to use reasonable safeguards for records transferred through their services. Cookie information is limited and not intentionally used for unrelated profiling. Questions about a particular provider can be sent to the Loreus desk.
9. Consent and withdrawal
Optional cookies are activated only after the reader chooses Accept where the banner applies. Rejecting is a valid choice and does not reduce editorial access. You can withdraw by deleting the preference and rejecting again when the banner returns. A withdrawal does not affect processing that already occurred lawfully.
10. Review history
This policy was reviewed on 13 October 2026. We will update it when cookie names, tools, purposes, or legal requirements change. A new date will appear at the top. Contact Loreus at Jl. Thamrin No. 8, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Jakarta 10310, Indonesia or +62 21 6815 3047.
A reader can review, block, or delete cookies through the privacy controls in the browser. The location of those controls differs between Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and mobile browsers, and deleting a cookie may cause the preference banner to appear again. Blocking essential records can affect routing or security checks, but it should not prevent a reader from asking questions by another route. Loreus does not treat a browser preference as permission to send marketing correspondence.
Where analytics are supplied by a third party, the provider may process a truncated network address, device information, referral data, and event timestamps in another country. Loreus reviews the provider’s retention setting and aims to keep event-level analytics for no longer than 14 months, with aggregated reporting retained only while it supports publication decisions. A consent record may be kept for up to 24 months to show which choice was made. The inventory was reviewed on 13 October 2026 and will be checked when a material hosting, analytics, or consent change is introduced.
