Behind the pages

How Loreus keeps its voice measured.

Editorial work is a practice of selection: what to include, what to qualify, and what not to claim.

Sources and review

Stories may draw on public research, interviews, practical observation, and reader correspondence. We check dates, distinguish opinion from evidence, and revise language that implies certainty beyond what the material supports. For example, an editor may retain a clearly attributed observation while removing a broad conclusion that the source does not establish. When a source has a commercial, personal, or institutional interest in a topic, that context is considered before the material is used. Readers should be able to see which parts are reported, which parts are interpretation, and which limitations remain unresolved. Source notes and correspondence are handled with care, and identifying details are not published merely because they were available to the desk.

Corrections are welcomed. When a meaningful error is identified, we update the page and note the change where appropriate.

What we avoid

  • Fear-based headlines.
  • Promises of guaranteed personal outcomes.
  • Shame about appearance or age.
  • Hidden commercial relationships.

What we value

  • Plain language and useful context.
  • Local and cultural awareness.
  • Accessible page structure.
  • Room for uncertainty.

Read with an active mind

Every article is general information. Keep your own context in the conversation, and use qualified local support whenever a question is personal, persistent, or outside the scope of an editorial guide.

For a routine review, the desk records the page title, the point being checked, the source or context supplied, and the date the message was received. A correction request is assessed for accuracy, clarity, significance, and whether the change affects a linked page or caption. Minor spelling or formatting adjustments may be made without a separate public note, while a material factual correction is identified when that helps readers understand the history of the page. Correspondence used for review is retained only while it remains useful for the matter, normally no longer than 24 months after closure, unless a longer period is required to document a continuing editorial issue.

Readers can write to the Loreus desk at Jl. Thamrin No. 8, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Jakarta 10310, Indonesia, or call +62 21 6815 3047. We aim to acknowledge a substantive correction or source query within 5 business days and provide a considered response within 20 business days. If a request needs additional checking, the desk may explain the delay and identify the next review step. The editorial record is kept separate from advertising arrangements, and a commercial request does not change how a correction is evaluated.
